Colt Pocket Nine
The Colt Pocket Nine 9mm Pistol
Sometimes I wonder what firearms manufacturers think. Sometimes I guess their products are made before their time. This has held true throughout the history of manufacturing. For example the advancements the Studebaker car manufacture made were ahead of their time with power steering and power brakes. What happened to The Studebakers? Another example is the Gatling gun which held the test of time in the modern General Electric Mini Gun. I bet there are a few terrorists that wish the Gatling gun was never invented.
In the 90's Colt kinda helped pioneer the modern pocket gun with their Pony and Mustang series. They also made a wonderful little piece called the Pocket Nine. The Pocket Nine broke the mold. The double action only gun fits very nicely in a pair of board shorts and is in the powerful 9mm Luger caliber. Nine millimeter is in my mind the smallest effective caliber for personal defense. It's to bad the Colt Pocket Nine was only made one year (1999) and is highly collectible.
The Colt Pocket Nine was made in 1999 only. The total production of this gun only about 5,000 guns. The Pocket Nine was double action only. The little Colt only weighs 17 ounces. It had a capacity of 6 plus one. It had a aluminum frame and stainless slide and barrel. It had a 2.75 inch barrel and was only Seven inches overall. It is too bad the Colt Pocket Nine was manufactured way before it's time.
