The Sig Sauer Model 232 380 Pistol

The Cold War was an interesting time. In the 1970'sWest Germany was a mess and terrorism was starting to be rampant. The need for small modern concealable handguns became necessary for CIA operations as well as undercover police work. This brought back the popularity of cool guns like the Walther PP and the Colt Detective Special. This also prompted gun manufacturers to develop neat new designs Along the lines of small powerful concealable guns. This was kind of the glory tomes for the 380 caliber.

Sig Sauer designed the P230 in 1977 as a weapon to meet the need of the small concealable powerful handgun. It was one of the first modern pocket guns chambered in .380. It was also one of the first pocket guns to be made in double action in .380. I am not a big fan of the .380 but it is much better than a .22 for sure. The P230 is a blued gun that was improved in and replaced in 1996 by the Sig P232. The P232 is a perfect gun for a day at the beach. It is concealed nicely in a pair of board shorts.

The Sig Sauer P232 weighs a measly 18.5 ounces and is 17 centimeters in length. It was produced in .32 Auto (7.65), .380 Auto, and 9x18 Ultra. The Double action pistol also has a decoker which is handy. The gun is Stainless construction with plastic grips. It has a magazine capacity of 8 rounds in .32 and 7 rounds in .380. Germany discontinued exportation to the United States due to unlawful foreign sales by the U.S. State Department to the Colombian Defense Ministry.
