The Kimber model 82

Most people recognize Kimber as 1911 guys. They also make high end rifles in 22 and center fire calibers. Some time in the 80's Kimber got a military contract to manufacture military training rifles. The Model they manufactured was the 82 U.S. The rifle was a single shot heavy barrel 22 trainer. The 82 U.S was manufactured for the U.S. Army in the 1980s, and later released to the public via the Civilian Marksmanship Program. It came with a Globe front, the "U S" marking on the receiver, accessory rail on the underside of the forearm, adjustable hand stop, a walnut pistol grip buttstock with solid recoil pad and 3 plastic spacers. Included with the rifle is a Kimber peep sight.

The model 82 is made of blued steel with wood stock that has an adjustable butt plate. The gun is 43 inches overall with a length of pull being 13.5 inches. The Kimber should be able to complete with a Winchester Model 52 or a Remington 40x. The one I owned once upon a time was a pleasure to shoot and made nice tiny groups. It was a fun gun to shoot on the bench at the 50 yard mark. I sure had a few fun afternoon's shooting mine. Classic guns like these can be found at Gun Trader Gun Shows. As well as our shop Gainesville Pawn.
